It's all well and good to know where the best pizza in the city is—if you've got the time to travel there—but what if you need a decent slice right now? Slice'rs know that every street-corner slice in NYC is not created equal, so we decided to explore the possibilities literally block by block. More

Hola, cheeseheads. Please welcome Aaron Mattis to Slice. Aaron just joined us last week as Slice's summer intern (our first dedicated Slice intern, yay!). As a fun first assignment, we sent Aaron up to Penn Station (along with Serious Eats intern Lingbo Li on photo duty) to suss out the best pizza in the busy transit hub. Without further ado, Aaron's report. —The Mgmt. The upside-down slice from NY Pizza Suprema is worth the walk from Penn Station. I still have horrible memories of my attempt to treat Adam w/pizza from Lazzara's on his bday at Blueprint, and not having nearly enough food. Is there anyone else you'd suggest? (Am I too far away from Lazzara's to ask them... More

Lunch: New York Pizza Suprema

Adam Kuban 11 comments

New York Pizza Suprema calls this an "upside down pizza," but it's essentially a Sicilian slice that goes crust, cheese, sauce instead of crust, sauce, cheese. We had it for lunch today at Slice–Serious Eats HQ.... More

New York Pizza Suprema

Ed Levine Post a comment

If you find yourself headed to Madison Square Garden for a Knicks or Rangers game or a concert and you have 15 minutes or less to get something to eat, Pizza Suprema is the answer to your prayers. A mere two blocks from a Garden entrance, it looks like a generic pizzeria. Don't be fooled. The regular slices have a crisp crust, a fine if overly sweet sauce and a little too much cheese. Have one regular slice and one slice of the marinara pie—a Sicilian slice coated with marinara sauce containing flecks of fresh onion, then sprinkled with... More
