'New York Post' on Di Fara's $5 Slices
The New York Post checks in with the news that Slice readers have known for weeks—that Di Fara has raised its regular slices to $5. The paper talks to those opposed and those still willing to pay. Point "They must be out of their minds. It would have to be the best slice of pizza in the world," said Phyllis Turim of Brooklyn, who doesn't plan to find out for herself. Counterpoint "When I shop, I always buy what's high-priced," [Dom DeMarco] said. "What I use, other pizzerias don't use." Yours truly was quoted as well, if you feel...Best Pizza on Staten Island?
"I quietly hang around and drink it all in. It's just got all sorts of fascinating cultural components and the best pizza I've ever had—Tony's on Bay Street." —Lawrence O'Donnell, former West Wing writer and creator of upcoming FX cop show to be titled Staten Island Tony's Brick Oven Pizza 1140 Bay Street, Staten Island NY 10305 (map) 718-816-6516...They're Calling It the 'Pizza Tax'

The governor, to shore up revenues in an ailing economy, wants small businesses that deal primarily in cash to go legit on their taxes, which the state says they are underreporting. As you know, many of the pizzerias in the city and state don't take plastic....'New York Post' Cover Resembles Artwork of Previous Ed Levine Article
From left: Ed Levine with his New York Times piece from November 6, 2002; New York Post's Page Six Magazine pizza story from August 31, 2008. Seeing double? A recent piece on six of the hottest pizzerias in New York Post's Page Six Magazine must be channeling its inner Ed Levine-ness. The artwork eerily resembles that of Levine's New York Times piece from 2002 on "The State of the Slice." Modeling his piece yesterday with his most Vanna White-esque charm, Ed had no trouble finding his copy, which was stored safely next to his desk—as if for this very...A Slice Is a Slice
From a story in the New York Post called Walk Like a Local: How to Pass as a Native New Yorker: When hunger strikes and you stop for pizza, keep vocabulary in mind. A "pie" is made up of "slices." You grab a "slice" on your way home from the bar but order a few "pies" if you're watching the Giants game with friends. Always preface your order with "lemmegetta," as in, "lemmegetta a slice." There is no need to specify plain cheese. That's what it means when you order a "slice." Going further, I'd say that you'd complete the...Slice is part of the Foodblog Ad Network.
