Photo of the Day: Is This the Most Beautiful Picture of a Pizza?

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but sometimes a picture can leave you speechless. More

Photo of the Day: UPN Posters

Meredith Smith 14 comments

San Francisco Slice contributor David Kover spotted these posters for Una Pizza Napoletana in the Mission recently and noted that they have been popping up around town. Is Mangieri just reminding the citizens of San Francisco that there is pizza greatness happening in their city, or is there something more to these mystery posters? More

Photo of the Day: The Impossible

This dog must be stuffed. I have never met a pizza hound that could exert the willpower necessary to endure this kind of torture. Certainly not Hambone (getting his pie on with me here), or Yuba (who loves all kinds of crust, even ones stuffed with Polyfil). More

Photo of the Day: Sweet Shot of Del Popolo Truck

Meredith Smith 3 comments

Just had to share this shot that came across the Slice desk earlier this week (thanks, TXCraig1!). We had a mock up of the truck's design early on, and then an instagram photo more recently, but this one really captures the beauty of this truck. More

This is the pizza oven at Bacchus in Troy, New York. It's kinda creepy cool. Reminds me of this pizza oven that Adam Lindsley snapped a photo of. [via fromscratchclub on Instagram]

That can not be the first pizza that fat pigeon has dominated. Sooo fat! Keep an eye out for that guy when eating in a pigeon-heavy area. He will win. More

Photo of the Day: PIZZA License Plate Spotted on Our Maine Road Trip

Erin Zimmer 5 comments

It's not everyday you road trip up I-95 to Maine and driving right in front of you is a BMW X5 with a "PIZZA" vanity plate. Ahh, where's the camera?! (There was some gentle swerving right about here.) But how could we not snap a photo? That wasn't really an option. Even if we looked a tad creepy while doing it. More

Photo of the Day: 'Customer Special'

[Photograph: Adam Kuban] In response to yesterday's Photo of the Day featuring the "Extra Cheese/ Sausage" detail from a pizza box, Tupper Cooks! asked, "What, no X-tra Pineapple???" Well, I believe that would be covered by "Customer Special." So here you go. Consider this your X-tra Pineapple, Tupper. You're welcome — and aloha! ;) And like yesterday, feel free to download the original to use as a desktop wallpaper: http://www.flickr.com/photos/slice/4706612953/sizes/o/... More

Photo of the Day: Guaranteed to Raise a Smile

[Photograph: Adam Kuban] At first I thought this was just a random, absurd name for a pizzeria. It wasn't until I parked the car and walked around the corner to shoot the sign that I finally got the pun. Sgt. Pepperoni 956 Main Street, Manchester CT 06040 860-783-5818... More

Photo of the Day: 99¢ Fresh Hipstamatic Pizza

Adam Kuban Post a comment

[Photograph: Adam Kuban] Above, a Hipstamatic shot of the 99¢ Fresh Pizza on Sixth Avenue near 8th Street. Below, an excerpt of the story behind the iPhone app that produced it: The original Hipstamatic was the invention of two Wisconsin brothers, Bruce and Winston Dorbowski. In the winter of 1982 they came up with what their big brother Richard later called "a million dollar idea for bringing photographic art to the masses cheaply" — a camera inspired by the popular Kodak Instamatic (and probably by the Russian Lomo) but made entirely of plastic, right down to the lens. The... More

[Photographs: Adam Kuban] They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Totonno's is back, and this photo says it all. I was going to leave you with just this one image, but I couldn't resist throwing a gallery together. Peep it, if you'd like.... More

Photo of the Day: Di Fara Through a Holga

Adam Kuban 5 comments

[Photographs: Adam Kuban] I've recently dusted off my old Holga 120s camera. The Holga is a cheap, toy camera favored by hipsters, who prize it for its shoddy construction and craptacular lens, both of which lead to light leaks and chromatic aberration. I tried shooting photos of the actual pizza, but it was too dark inside to get any good shots. These shots are not any good, either. Related: Pizzeria Exterior Gallery [Flickr]... More
