My Pie Monday: The Wackiest Pies of 2011

This week's My Pie Monday is a special edition featuring some of the craziest pies that your fellow Slice'rs created in 2011. The pies that arrive in the Slice mailbox each week are a source of constant inspiration. There's a lot of personality that comes through in the various styles and toppings. Here we have some of the wackiest ones to pass through the galleries this year! We'll be back to our regular MPM schedule as of next week. Tomato Class at the Brooklyn Brainery

There's a lot to know about tomatoes. Remember how much Scott Wiener had to say about them just in his post on the San Marzanos alone? There was lots of myth busting going on there, but if you want to hear more from him on the topic of this enigmatic fruit, then you need to get your tomato loving self to the Brooklyn Brainery tonight. My Pie Monday: Manteca Crust, Morel Pizza, and More!

Welcome back to My Pie Monday, Slice'rs! We've got some good lookin' pies in this week's line-up. Lacey Muszynski and Pizzablogger create a square pie double feature with a cameo by Paulie Gee's secret tomatoes. Norma427 works a little Mexican manteca into her dough and dhorst gives her Za'atar Zucchini topped pie a pretzel salt crust. Plus we have a pizza topped with foraged morels from Cary, clams casino from sunra, a beauty of a NY style pie by Ev, Wucactus1 creates a classic Margherita, Climbhighak makes an Italian meat pizza, and ScottWiener gives his mom the best Mother's Day present of all.

Help 'Slice Out Hunger' on June 9

Scott Wiener (Scott's Pizza Tours) emails us that he's once again putting together the annual Slice Out Hunger charity event. Proceeds go to City Harvest. Tickets are sold at the door and cost $1, each one redeemable for any one of a slice of pizza, a soda, or a raffle ticket. (Obviously you can buy more than one ticket if you're hungry and thirsty and feeling lucky.)
