$1 Slice Fundraiser for City Harvest in Greenwich Village on Thursday

This Thursday, eat good pizza for a good cause at Slice Out Hunger, which will take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at GAP Adventures (one of the organizers) in Greenwich Village. There will be $1 slices from Lombardi's, John's of Bleecker, Joe's, and NY Pizza Suprema, with all the money going directly to City Harvest, New York City's food rescue squad. While scarfing back the pizza, you can check out the Pizza Boxes of the World exhibit, a collection of boxes sent in from all over by Scott's Pizza Tours alumni (tour guide Scott Wiener is also one of... Pizza Obsessives: Q&A with Scott Wiener, NYC Pizza Tour Guide

Q: What's most important to you: crust, sauce, or cheese?
A: What's most important to me is that they're all in balance. One ingredient cannot stand alone; that's like a pyramid with only two sides. The proportions and textures have to be complementary, as does the balance of flavor. If any one ingredient exists without support from the others, it could be a big old mess. More

NYC: Job Openings at Scott's Pizza Tours!

[Photograph: Scott's Pizza Tours] Another jobs-related post. And this one is really awesome. Scott Wiener of Scott's Pizza Tours is looking to hire additional pizza tour guides. This sounds REALLY FUN. Not only do you get to share your love of pizza and NYC with people eager to listen to you blab, I'd imagine you get to eat pizza at the various stops, too. Here's Scott's ad from Craigslist: New York Pizza Tours, Inc. is now hiring licensed guides to conduct tours of New York's vast pizza landscape. New York Pizza Tour on Fox 5 News

Scott's New York Pizza Tours makes it onto Fox 5 News on Thursday night. I never realized how over the top Tony Senecal is. And Rosanna Scotto and Ernie Anastos are almost as hammy. Video of the segment, after the jump.... More

Scott's New York Pizza Tours Launches

Remember that new New York City pizza tour service I told you about early last month? The one that my buddy Scott Wiener is putting together? At that point the tour was but a twinkle of olive oil in Scott's eye. Now his New York pizza tour site has launched and is selling tix. Bus trips are $55, start in Manhattan and go to at least one outer borough and back in four and a half hours. Walking tours are by request only and hit places in downtown Manhattan only. The first trip is April 27; subsequent tours are on... More

New NYC Pizza Tour Service Starting

Speaking of pizza tours (previous post), the guy behind the tour that landed outrageously on Franny's has turned what was originally an annual birthday event into a fledgling business: Scott's Pizza Tours. The tours aren't up and running yet, but you can sign up for Scott Wiener's cheesy trips at his website, which mentions a spring launch date. The Pizza Express

After starting a six-pizzeria pizza crawl at Franny's, travelers board the" Pizza Express." This afternoon I had the pleasure of riding aboard what I'll call the Scott Wiener Pizza Express. Scott Wiener is a true pizza lover, one who keeps a pizza journal that's legendary among those who know him, and his love and enthusiasm for the pie is truly infectious. So much so that a little more than 20 people showed up for a tour that would take us from Prospect Heights to deep Brooklyn, up to East Harlem, and back again to Brooklyn (see map, after the... More
