[Photographs: Hawk Krall] Celebre's has quickly become my new favorite South Philly delivery spot. Caroline wrote about their Pizzaz a while back (supposedly they are the originators) and since then I've been ordering from them on a regular basis. Their sausage comes in awesome thin pork ribbons that crisp up on the edges like pepperoni. The decorative green peppers are also a nice touch....

Sausage pizza in Philadelphia can be a total crapshoot. You never know if your pie is going to be topped with the most delicious knobs of homemade Italian sausage from a neighborhood butcher shop, or something more like burnt, dried out Jimmy Dean breakfast patties that were cooked a week ago.
What really stood out at Salvatore's is this intense stuffed pizza filled with meatballs and broccoli rabe. Fresh out of the gas oven, the crust was super crisp and golden brown (on both sides) and a perfect ratio of sauce to cheese and filling.
San Lucas Pizzeria all sorts of amazing Italian-American-Mexican-South Philly fusion. This is the kind of stuff I really go nuts for. The Al Pastor slice was the highlight.
