Photographer and writer Michael Berman of Pizzacentric visits Maria's Pizza in Milwaukee and comes away with a great blog post and a video that sheds some light on the pizzamaking process there. (Not that it's a huge secret, since the kitchen is open to one and all who dine there.) Maria's is one of my all-time favorite pizzerias. Nice to see the Pizzacentric treatment of it.

We've been following this year's International Pizza Expo in great anticipation of the 2013 World Pizza Games. The competition features a range of obscure categories that are just completely out-of-control awesome. Sure, there's the usual dough tossing (feel free to chime in on our poll), but there are also performances in freestyle acrobatic dough tossing, fastest dough, largest dough stretch, fastest pizza box folding, and a real, live pizza triathlon.

Pizza takes more abuse from the fellas at Epic Meal Time as it gets stacked, compacted, and wrapped into two pizza stuffed buns. It's sort of like their version of the shooter sandwich, except way more gross and over-the-top because in this case the shooter-esque buns bookend more pizza filling.

Caleb Schiff documented his transition from pizza enthusiast to owner and operator of Pizzicletta in the Slice series Building a Pizzeria.
