Lactose and My Adios

Slice Is No Longer Being Updated. Feel Free to Poke Around the Archives Ladies and gents, it's time to level with you. I've been having sleepless nights as of late for more than one reason. First, I noticed that whenever I ate pizza or anything with a dairy component, I started feeling funny. I won't go into details, as you may be eating lunch right now, but suffice it to say, it wasn't pretty. After seeing my doctor, he diagnosed lactose intolerance. I pressed on for the sake of this site, trying Lactaid and reading various lactose intolerance forums for...

Menu for Hope 4: Call for Entries

Editor's note: Warning—nonpizza content follows. But it's for a great cause, so no grumbling, folks! —The Mgmt. It's that time of year again. As many of you who publish or read food blogs know, each year Pim Techamuanvivit of Chez Pim organizes her Menu for Hope campaign, in which food bloggers from around the globe come together to help those who are less fortunate. For those unfamiliar, Menu for Hope is an online charity event in which bloggers donate a prize that goes into a virtual raffle. Readers and others may then buy virtual raffle tickets for one or (hopefully)...

A New Look: Slice Redesign Rolling Out Tonight

Hey folks. Just a heads-up to let you know that if anything is a bit borky this evening, it's because we've just rolled out a redesigned Slice. The new look incorporates elements of the old but does so in a crisp, clean new way. I think you'll find it refreshing. I know I do after all these years. The biggest changes are tabbed navigation above the main column and an easier-to-read list of pizza entries by location over in the right-hand column there. The new tabs simply break out existing material and make it easier to access. Those tabs include:...

Or, perhaps, to simply amuse you....

Slice on Facebook

OK. So I joined Facebook a couple months ago to see what it was all about. Yeah, I know, the college kids have been way into it for a while, and I kinda feel like an old fart on it, but I figured I'd start a Slice group on there for the hell of it. My thinking is that I'll use it to rally the troops, to raise a "Slice Army," if you will—a group of folks to call on for organized and impromptu pizza field trips. The Slice group is open to Facebook members at large, so if you're...
