My Pie Monday: Pizza Bunnies, Fennel Fronds, Tuna and More!

While there weren't any Peepzas this My Pie Monday, we did get some Pizza Bunnies, thanks to Norma. Overall, this seemed to be a good week for playing around with new dough formulas. Andrew Janjigian, Imwalkin, ccd2012, and livefreeorpie all worked on variations of the Lahey No Knead method, and Norma and Atmast revisited their new formulas from last week. Dmcavanagh made a change to his dough as well, but in terms of size rather than formula. While there were a lot of Lahey-like pies, other big name doughs got some representation too. Hogletboglet worked with a Reinhart dough, and Burger365 built a pizza on a Nancy Silverton base. A pair of pies from the most recent Tupper Lake Pizza Night were sent in by Tupper Cooks! and Dhorst. (By the way, the aleppo "crack" epidemic spreads beyond the Dhorst territories, into Imwalkin's neck of the woods.) Embracing baseball season, billgraney made a B.A.T pie with bacon, arugula, and Tomato. And amusebouche1 did some spring cleaning and created a cheese drawer salvation pie. In the vein of 'toppings you didn't know you needed to try' we have the ever excellent brussels sprouts and pancetta pie from TXCraig1 and a Tuna and Onion pie (referenced by Bitchin Fixins in the comments of that post) from newcomer onepercent99. Keep up the awesome work everyone! More

My Pie Monday: No Knead Dough, Proscuitto and Arugula, Roasted Potatoes, and More!

Happy My Pie Monday, Slice'rs! There are a dozen beautiful pies to feast your eyes on this week. Mushrooms, arugula, and prosciutto are dominating this week's toppings and the most popular dough making method (which may come as no surprise) is the no knead method. Newcomer arleneivana worked from the recipe Jim Lahey recipe we posted last week (welcome, arleneivana!), as did Imwalkin. Redwgn67 also went the no knead route, but in the pizza bianca style instead. Billgraney is back with a Chicago style deep dish topped with mushroom and roasted red peppers, and dhorst took advantage of the 80 degree weather in Syracuse to break out the grill. In the interest of keeping the peace with his wife, Hogletboglet made some ultra thin crusted Roman pies, and dmcavanagh used up the last of his Pepe's dough from Norma for a happy spring break pie to welcome his daughter home. (Lucky girls!) Speaking of Norma, she's got alfredo, bacon, and spinach topping her Lehmann dough with a new flour this week. And it looks like I saved the prosciuttos for last. Jimmyg paired prosciutto with mushroom on an oblong pie, TXcriag1 found he liked his prosciutto atop of arugula instead of beneath it, and Amusebouche1 also took the prosciutto on top tack for his 'Four Cheese' pie. My Pie Monday: 'Cherry Jones', Scotch, Pickles, and More!

We have a mighty fine My Pie Monday here! Included in today's mouthwatering dozen is the last Top This recipe, Paulie Gee's "Cherry Jones", as done by dmcavanagh. Girl Loves Pizza dove into pickle territory a la dhorst, and also getting into unconventional topping territory, a scotch whiskey splashed pie from jimmyg. A warm Slice welcome to pizzamaking.com member CTMike, whose first time submission is in the mix. More incredible looking pies come from: Norma427, amusebouche1, forzapizza, billgraney, TxCraig1, Imwalkin, and paralleli! More

My Pie Monday: Sweet Potatoes, Sweet Tomatoes, and Sweet Jesus, Dem's Some Fine Looking Pies!

I'm filling in for Slice Queen Meredith this week and normally more work = less fun, but darned if you Slice'rs don't make this job easy. This week we've got fifteen pies on the menu. As usual, dmcavanagh comes through, this week with two pies! LLTODDJ and Zumicroom both give us their best Neapolitan stylings while nzmick brings a taste of Chicago to the other side of the globe. You'll find a Texan who likes salad on their pie (woulda never thought I'd see the day), more mushrooms than you can toss a crust at from amusebouche1, and roast chicken pie from billgraney that looks so good it could even convert this non-chicken-on-pizza eater. More

My Pie Monday: Guacamole, Merguez Sausage, Calabrian Chiles, and More!

There's a baker's dozen of beauties in the line-up this fine My Pie Monday! There are at least two first time contributors this week—a warm welcome to feedmittens and Freest Rolexes. TXCraig1 and ESNY1077 break out the heat with Calabrian chiles and fresh jalapenos (note: NOT PICKLED), respectively. Not quite as spicy, but still heating things up, tomdorkey incorporates pepper salami, and red pepper flakes into his topping combo. Check out dhorst's Game Day pizza, looks like someone might be running an illegal pizza delivery operation... Amusebouche1 translates lamb stew into pizza and Girl Loves Pizza spreads on pinto beans, guac, and cheese with her seven layer dip pizza stylings. There may be some Caputo deck oven break throughs from Norma, Olsonmatt has a greek revival moment, Jimmyg combines some "out of this world" toppings, billgraney doubles up on pesto, and dmcavanagh makes a special birthday pizza. More

My Pie Monday: Baby Cheese, Pepitas, Bacon, and Much More!

Happy New Year, Slice'rs! This first My Pie Monday of the year features 13 pies from 9 different kitchens. TXCraig1 contributed a classic Margherita to the galleries, dmcavanagh a classic NY-style and we've got squares of Pizzarium-style pie covered by Jimmyg. Norma sent in a shot of one of her great looking Greeks and Amusebouche1 send in both pizza and a dessert pie (so to speak)! Doing some clean up around the fridge, Billgraney created a clean out pizza, as did BiereBeer with "The Recycler" (a good contender for "Wackiest Pies of 2012"). Dhorst's sourdough pie got topped with a smoky blue and pepitas, and in line with the holiday flavors, Paul T combined butternut squash, sage, and caramelized onions. More

My Pie Monday: Pizza al Taglio, Chanterelles, Purple Potatoes, and More!

In this week's installment of My Pie Monday we have some phenomenal looking pies! There's a heavy Roman influence with a Bonci style pie topped three ways from Jimmyg, and VPerry's pancetta, mushroom, and onion al taglio pie. TXCraig1 proves that not all squash pies are terrible, and Norma427 makes her best Jet's pizza yet. Amusebouche1 plays around with combining chanterelles, goat cheese, pears, and leeks, and Billgraney delivers a gold standard pie topped with chicken mango sausage. More

My Pie Monday: BBQ Chicken, Clam Bake, Lump Crabmeat and More!

If you're looking to work up an appetite for Thanksgiving, then this My Pie Monday should do the trick. Billgraney took the barbecue sauce plunge with his first ever chicken bbq pizza, Amusebouche1 created a clam bake pie combining clams, corn, and bacon, and Tscarborough topped his thin crust pie off with lump crabmeat, scallions, pepper, and mushrooms. Along the more traditional track Norma created a classic New York-style pie, TXCraig1 fired a Margherita with sausage, and Scott D made a modified his Margherita with tomato and garlic, cooking it in just 70 seconds. That has to be some kind of record, right? More

My Pie Monday: Smoky Blue Cheese, BLT, Artichokes, and More!

Happy My Pie Monday, folks! Your fellow Slice'rs have been at it again, making gorgeous pies for you to feast your eyes on. Norma427 did some more work on perfecting her Mellow Mushroom pie replica and topped it sausage, peppers, onion, and spinach. Speaking of mushrooms, amusebouche1 made a three mushroom and sausage pie with truffle salt that sounds anything but mellow. Billgraney experimented with working some German rye beer into his BLT pizza, and Jimmyg returned to work with Buratto flour in his smoky blue cheese and caper topped pie. We have four pizzas from intheyearofthepig's cob oven, and... More

My Pie Monday: Texas Rosa, Marinara, Mellow Mushroom, and More!

It's another gorgeous My Pie Monday here at Slice! This week Norma427 revisited the Mellow Mushroom recipe she had previously worked on with some delicious looking results. Billgraney un-mellowed his mushrooms by sauteing them in duck fat (omg) before topping his pie. Livefreeorpie got all pepped up with pepperoni, banana peppers, and roasted reds. But wait, there is another tri-pep variety to be found in Ev's tri-colored bell pepper and onion NY pizza. Olsonmatt made a marinara with garlic, oregano, and fried sage. (You should really already be clicking through the slideshow at this point, but if you need more cause...) TXCraig1 tried his very proficient hand at the Chris Bianco Rosa, Texas-style! (A Texan would never use Arizona nuts.) And in the spirit of Slice'rs collaborating with Slice'rs, Jimmyg tooled around with his dough holding temps this week after some productive MPM discussions on the topic. Keep up the great conversations, everyone! More
