This pesto grilled pizza from North Shore Farms can be found only once a week, on Saturday mornings from 7:30 to 11 a.m. at the KCC Farmer's Market in Honolulu. It's always my first stop at the market—slices of this pie aren't cheap at $6.50 each, but the stellar ingredients and careful preparation make it well worth your money.
The dough is smothered in a generous layer of homemade pesto, topped with a variety of luscious local heirloom tomato slices and warm pockets of fresh mozzarella. Snippets of fresh basil finish it off, and the entire pie is transported onto the grill, cooked till the bottom is golden, crisp, and crunchy. It may not be quite traditional, but I haven't met anyone who doesn't love this slice.
