What type of pizza do you prefer?
The Pizza Cognition Theory states that "the first slice of pizza a child sees and tastes ... becomes, for him, pizza." Do you remember your first slice? Where was it from, is the place still around, and if so, does it hold up? On that note, has your taste in pizza evolved over time?
I grew up in a very small town where the only choice was Round Table. So, no, it doesn't really hold up and yes, my tastes have evolved over time.
What's your favorite topping or topping combination?
Where do you go for pizza in your area?
Interesting. I had never thought of the term "comfort pizza," but that makes total sense. ... Do you make pizza at home? If so, how? What recipes do you use?
I use Marcella Hazan's cracker-like three hour dough recipe and a pizza stone. Maybe topped with fresh mozz and tomatoes and herbs from my garden.
What one thing should NEVER go on a pizza?
Chicken and/or barbecue sauce!
LOL. I think I'm going to use that combo on a pizza next week. ;) ... On that note, what's the most unusual pizza you've ever eaten?
Eating pizza in Portugal turned me on to the tastiness of tuna and corn on a pizza, but I guess the most unusual was the oyster pizza in Point Reyes Station that I posted about recently.
OK, so no chicken or barbecue sauce, but corn and tuna?!? ... Actually, I've had the corn part of that equation before and it was quite good. ... Anyway, speaking of pizza and travel, what's the farthest you've traveled for pizza?
I once drove with friends from Providence, Rhode Island, to Frank Pepe's in New Haven — and to our disappointment they were out of the clam pizza!
UGH. That always happens. ... Um, not specifically at Pepe's, but in general. The worst is when you show up and a place is closed. Anyway, thanks for playing along. It was nice getting to know more about you. Hasta la pizza!
