OK, only marginally pizza-related, I know, but I kind of loved this idea on repurposing those plastic pizza box supports that keep the lid of the box from mooshing into the cheese.
I washed it off and put my phone on it. It supported the phone fine but the angle was a little steep and the leg in front blocked the screen. Three snips with a pair of needle nose pliers later and the front leg was out of the way and the back legs were short enough to adjust the screen angle.
Lifehacker's Jason Fitzpatrick says that in the future he'd put two of the legs in the front of the phone and only one to support the back. A minor aside, after the jump »
Sure beats using them as Barbie tables. And just the thing I was looking for, as I have currently become obsessed with The Wire and have been watching it like a crack fiend on my phone.
As an aside here, a friend of mine, Paul Lukas, who does the Uni Watch column on ESPN.com, and who is obsessed with the ephemera of daily life, once told me he was researching the history of these things and ran into a bit of a wall. At some point, he said, some folks in the plastic pizza-box support industry warned him off. "There's stuff you don't want to know about," they said. I am not making this up.
