Daily Slice gives a quick snapshot each weekday of a different slice or pie that the folks at the Serious Eats empire have enjoyed lately.
With pizza popularity at an all-time high, and the costs of making pizza still pretty low, it's no wonder that restaurants of all stripes keep adding pies to their menus. Any creative chef worth their salt can come up with a delicious combination of toppings, especially when opting for white pies. But a good crust is a different beast altogether and it's in the bread that I've found non-pizzerias most often stumble. At Michael Symon's Lolita in Cleveland, the crisp and chewy crust has a nice hole structure and forms the base of an excellent pork sausage pizza. In addition to the moist housemade sausage, tomato sauce, and the fresh mozzarella, the $13 pie features roasted sweet red peppers and hidden chiles that bring some nice heat on the back end.
