Though not the first to conceptualize the idea (check out Nick Sherman's 2011 post on Pizza Rules), Andrew W.K.'s collaborative efforts with guitar makers ESP seem to be the first to bring the pizza guitar dream to life. Over 8 years ago, Andrew dreamt up the custom instrument that he shows off in this Pitchfork TV video exclusive filmed at Famous Ray's Pizza in Times Square. The toppings on this New York Supreme slice were hand painted by W.K. himself to replicate his favorite combo of extra spicy garlic marinara sauce, double mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, black olives, green peppers, mushrooms, and jalapenos.
Andrew shreds some chords with his slice (literally, he rubs a slice of pizza on his custom guitar) for the super pumped patrons of Ray's in this video.
